An Evaluative Study of Community-based Hypertension Control Program of Public Health Centers, Daegu and Gyeongbuk

Abstract
Purpose: This study is to analyse the community-based hypertension control program of public health centers in Daegu and Gyeongbuk.

methods:It analyzed purpose, goal, management activity and strategy, educational media and educational materials for hypertension control from 17 public health centers in Daegu and Gyeongbuk that had been doing program on hypertension, through a questionnaire.

Results:The purposes of hypertension control program of public health centers are complication prevention 88.2% , enhancement of self care ability 88.2%, enhancement of quality of life 82.4%, reduction of mortality 52.9%, in order. The goals of hypertension control program are reduction of risk factors and mobility 82.4%, improving of recognition 76.5%, maintenance of normal blood pressure, 64.7%, detection of patient, 58.8%, monitoring 41.2%, in order. The control activities are registration and follow up 88.2% , early detective program 76.5%, risk factor control 47.0% and staff training 29.4% , in order. The control strategies are lecture 88.2%, mass media and web 41.2%, in order The educational medias are reflet, pocket book, panel and video for adolescent and middle aged women. The educational medias are reflet, panel, pocket book and video for elderly and public population, in order. The educational contents are drinking , smoking, exercise for adolescent, and nutrition, exercise, stress for middle aged women and complication, nutrition, exercise for elderly and nutrition, exercise, complication for public population, in order.

Conclusion:Educational materials should be developed focusing on prevention and observance of risk factors through daily living.
